Production monitoring in the smart factory

Digital production monitoring is an important building block for a modern and efficient factory. Production monitoring in a smart factory primarily creates transparency so that the high investments in modern technology for production and logistics can also pay off. In most cases, machines are not at a standstill because they themselves have a problem, but because the surrounding processes are not contributing optimally to machine utilization. This is where production monitoring can help, for example by indicating to staff that a current machining job has been completed and new blanks need to be inserted for machining.

Benefits of digital production monitoring

Digital production monitoring is a simple way to help optimize a factory’s production processes. This is because the overall transparency of which machine is currently in which stage, or where an operator action will be required shortly, usually already leads to significantly better capacity utilization. Digital machine monitoring is also an important building block for digital OEE recording and thus helps to optimize production and quality.

Advantages for factory operators

All machines and assembly stations in view at all times

Simple reduction of reaction time

Digital production monitoring is the important first step towards a future-proof smart factory

The right solution for your production monitoring requirements

The monitoring of production equipment usually has different target groups and thus also different focal points for the display and processing of information. While an operator in a multi-operator operation tends to need to know where to remove parts or insert new parts, a maintenance employee is more interested in unplanned downtimes. Another important area is digital metrics which are of interest to process optimizers or even plant managers.

Our solution for a production monitoring software is able to address very different use cases and thus target groups. The basis for this is always the IoT data connection of the machines or other operating equipment, which can be established using our 247NetConnect interface. Read more about our offer in the area of machine connectivity here.
The acquired data can then be made available to various applications or end devices for production monitoring via the IoT platform 247KnowledgeHub.

  • Machine Dashboard
  • Asset Tracking
  • Condition Monitoring
  • Predictive Monitoring

Keep an eye on all machines and assembly stations at all times

AI in the factory

Artificial Intelligence is becoming the central key technology for competitive production – not only in Germany. To optimize production through AI, our IoT platform 247KnowledgeHub provides the optimal basis for determining and providing process data. Production monitoring is thus only the first step towards permanent digital optimization and adaptation of production.

Many of our customers pursue the goal of a closed loop to digitally capture and optimize OEE. Here, the effect of the optimization measures determined by AI can be measured directly and the measurement result can be used to further improve the measures.

We tailor our offer for production monitoring to your individual requirements

  • Interface development for machine connection
  • Setting up customer- or application-specific information models

  • Development of customized monitoring applications and dashboards

  • Operation and hosting of your factory IoT solution

Examples of digital production monitoring with 247FactoryNet

Production Monitoring

Integrated digital OEE recording of a production line

Project goal
The OEE of a complete production line is to be digitally recorded, and it must be possible to derive optimization potential from the data analysis.

Challenge
The line to be analyzed consists of various partly complex plant components from different manufacturers and has different degrees of automation as well as different requirements for quality recording.

Solution
Individual interfaces were developed for the different plant components to enable integration into a comprehensive IoT platform. A semantic information model of the plant was built to map the relevant data and the logical data links. This data model can be used to automatically calculate the OEE and other key figures, as well as to analyze and simulate optimization potential.

Production Monitoring

Factory-wide monitoring of operating resources

Project goal
The status of all process-critical equipment in a factory is to be displayed in an up-to-date overview. This should enable a fact-based reaction and rescheduling in the event of a malfunction.

Challenge
Different resources such as machines, assembly equipment or logistics systems must be networked via partly proprietary interfaces. At the same time, the data of the operating resources must be transferred into a generic data model that enables comprehensive monitoring of the line.

Solution
The various resources are networked using OPC UA and integrated into a comprehensive IoT platform. Using specially developed interfaces, the status data of the equipment is transferred to a common data model that allows line-wide analysis of the system statuses. The equipment statuses are made available to the user via a monitoring app.

Make your factory fit for the digital age with 247FactoryNet.

Optimizing production processes is the core task of every factory operator. With digital production monitoring, powerful tools are available for this purpose. A real-time display of machine states creates important transparency in the first step. However, the digital recording of process data additionally enables a much more precise determination of key figures such as OEE. Therefore, production monitoring software can also determine what the real impact of production optimization measures is and can even use AI to derive optimal measures for improvement. Production monitoring addresses the interests of machine operators, maintenance staff, plant managers and other target groups by collecting data digitally and presenting the content in a role-specific way. Digital production monitoring is the important first step towards a competitive smart factory.
